Recreational vs commercial drone use in Vatican
Vatican does not differentiate commercial & recreational drone use - see our post to differentiate recreational vs commercial drone usage. Both are subject to the strictest restrictions & a code of conduct.
🚨 For the moment, the use of drones is restricted. Drone regulation is delegated to the responsibility of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) & can be reached via email at comunicazione@enac.rupa.it or over phone (+39) 06 445 961
🚨 Some guys tried in the past & got arrested & expelled for flying above the Vatican, so we strongly recommend to keep your drone on the ground this time. What do I risk for flying a drone illegally in the Vatican?
🚨 The amount & scope of the fine will depend on the nature & severity of your infraction. The judges will also evaluate if you intentionally committed the infraction and/or if you had any commercial purposes to do such. However, some journal stories prove that they are quite severe fines and expel orders applied to those flying without permission.
