āœ… Good things first, you will not need a license or permit to fly your drone in Sweden as long as you fly your drone within the permitted zones.

Within these, you will need to follow a few rules:

  • fly your drone at a maximum altitude of 120 m above the ground or 50 m within controlled zones & 10 m within military zones.

  • fly your drone always in sight (the use of 3D helmets is prohibited).

  • fly away from private property, animals, people & respect individuals' privacy.

  • fly at least 5 km away from airports & 1 km away from heliports. You must also give priority to all other categories of aircraft & if you see a plane or helicopter during your flight, land immediately your drone.

  • it is advised to subscribe to an insurance covering all risks.

  • do not fly near a natural disaster or somewhere emergencies will need to intervene.

  • if you're in an automatic flight mode, you must be able to take over control at any time.

  • if flying at night, your drone needs to be equipped with lights to be seen by all.

āœ… If your drone weights more than 20 kg, you will need a third party insurance for a minimum amount of about 1 Million ā‚¬. If the insurance policy does not refer to EC Regulation 785/2004, it should be noted that the insurance applies to drone flights.
