Recreational & Commercial Drone use in Suriname
šØ Suriname requires anyone intending to fly a drone within the country to fill in a request prior arriving in the country to the attention of the Minister of Public Works, Transport & Communication
š The Civil Aviation Authority of Suriname precises to send your request at least 2 months ahead to give time to local authorities to process it.
Without specifying what to include but we can expect for a minimum your full details along with your your drone's tech & flight information to help local authorities accept your request. To date, we do not know anyone that has successfully completed this form, however we have some members from Suriname & you may try your luck in the Forum.
In the meantime, it isn't because we would recommend as for a minimum behavior to:
fly away from airports (any airport, seaplane base or area where aircraft or helicopter take off & land) & give way to all other type of aircraft.
keep your drone in visual sight when flying and fly below 120 m during daylight.
avoid flying above people without their consent or moving vehicles.
ask before flying over military facilities, archaeological sites or religious buildings.
fly away from areas where its use could interfere with police or first responders.
Once you've got everything in order, you can start flying above Suriname's awesome landscapes and create videos like this one:
Drones are a fast evolving technology & we hope that the above rules explained helped you narrow your thoughts for the perfect travel companion š
